Altfibr’s Bio-based barriers are made by turning our Non-Wood Kraft Pulp (NWK) into a fiber slurry and fibrillating those fibers through microfluidization, into non-wood nano-cellulose. This non-wood nano-cellulose barrier is engineered to replace petroleum-based coatings and other incumbent technologies —without compromising protection, shelf life, or speed to market. 

Built from a combination of renewable agricultural fibers (e.g. seaweed, banana stems, pineapple waste) our barriers lock out oxygen, oil and grease with precision. They integrate easily into existing packaging lines, cut energy usage during production, and can be engineered to meet the most demanding food safety and environmental regulations.
